Smile Academy Skills Training 2024
Smile Academy is part of the Smile Charity Village where small children are given a home and an education, and young people are trained in skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, mechanics and driving.
We’re thrilled to be sponsoring 40 more trainees at the Smile Academy in Uganda in Tailoring, Hairdressing and (for the first time) motor mechanics and driving. This will enable these young men and women to acquire skills which will provide them with the means not only to make a living, but to give them a sense of identity and self worth. This impacts not only them, but also their families and the communities they live in.
The money we raise will help to train 25 girls and 15 boys who would otherwise have no hope or future. It will also provide them with the equipment they need to set themselves up in small businesses on completion of their training. This is the 3rd year group that PDH has helped to fund and we have seen that this training is life changing for them.
Should we not raise sufficient funds to train all 40 young people, funds will be used towards as many as can be trained. Should this fundraiser exceed its target, excess funds will be used towards additional trainees.
